This course will be in Cross Timbers State Park and will move along a lake, in a wooded area, and across fields; so you will need to be prepared for the weather and terrain. If you have questions on the proper equipment for this event, come see us in the shop and we can help get you prepared!

- Pace count
- Boxing around obstacles
- Accurately plotting your position
- How pace count varies depending upon terrain
- Conducting an orienteering course
You need to bring:
- Compass
- Pencil
- Clipboard
- Day bag
- Water for the event
- Hat
- Folding chair
- 10 Essentials
- Any other gear you would personally need for hiking through rough terrain for 2-3 miles
This course is capped at 30 people to ensure that everyone has plenty of time to practice and spend time in the field. Call us at 316-358-7735, Message us, or come in the shop to reserve your spot. This course is FREE but again, does require reservations.
REMINDER: Cross Timbers is a State Park, and a vehicle pass is required to enter the park. Vehicle passes can be a State Park Passport, Annual Vehicle pass, or an online day pass.
After the course is completed, we will meet after at the Sandstone Market & Deli for lunch!
